Sustainability work in 2009-2010

Eniro’s environmental work led to concrete results and also created the conditions for continued improvements.

Policy on environmentally-friendly vehicles and business travel

Eniro has decided that all new vehicles to be purchased should be environmentally-friendly vehicles, which means in Eniro’s case, biogas, cars that run on ethanol or high efficiency diesel cars. This has resulted in reduced fuel consumption and lower costs for the company. In term of business trips, there are established internal goals to reduce the environmental impact of travel. All travel is purchased and arranged via a central travel agency, which allows Eniro to determine the environmental impact of the trip. Business trips are increasingly being replaced by telephone conferences, which save employees both time and travel costs. Video conferences are used more often which has given visible results in decreased travelling.

Further optimization of offerings based on demand

Eniro is striving to optimize publication of the directories based on demand. One concrete step is that the Vita Sidorna (White Pages) in Stockholm, Gothenburg and Malmö are currently only distributed upon request, in order to meet the needs of the users. Private persons in Sweden and Norway have the option of deciding not to receive Eniro’s directory. This means a more accurate and optimized edition of the directory. Previously, customers who purchased advertising in Eniro’s Gula Sidorna in Sweden received an advance copy of the directory. Now they receive their copy when the directory is regularly distributed, which avoids duplicate copies. Overall, these actions have led to reduced carbon dioxide emissions, environmental benefits and savings.

Some results for the Group in 2009

• Carbon dioxide emissions: - 12%
• Carbon dioxide emissions per employee: - 13%
• Air travel kilometers: -56%
• Rail travel kilometers: +58%
• Consumption of office paper: -4%
